Those for whom English is a second language may prefer to answer surveys in the language they are most comfortable with. This ensures they understand the questions, which leads to better quality data. Translation is also important because it helps make survey data collection inclusive and representative of the youth being surveyed.
This brief explores how APS programming might be tailored to meet the needs of pregnant and parenting youth participating in PREP. First, it discusses the precursors and outcomes that programs might target in their APS programming with pregnant and parenting youth. Recommendations follow on the relevant topics, by APS. The brief concludes by discussing specific program design and implementation considerations presented across the APS conceptual models that are relevant to pregnant and parenting youth, including teaching strategies and implementation considerations related to staffing and partnerships.
